On December 23, 2024, power unit No. 1 of Ekibastuzskaya GRES-1 was commissioned.

KBI Energy Group LLP has successfully completed the restoration of power unit No. 1, increasing its capacity to 500 MW. The completed works included the replacement of main and auxiliary equipment, the introduction of modern technologies, as well as the modernization of automation and control systems, which increased the efficiency of the plant and reduced emissions.
